Being one of the key contributors to the global military aircraft sales and having a great demand to address its own aging military fleet, the United States military contractors are aggressively seeking methods for advancing manufacturing technologies through automation for agile processes that allow high rate or surge capability that is economically viable for low rates as well. To meet these demands and increase the global competitiveness of domestic manufacturing base, while ensuring safety, a paradigm shift in aerospace manufacturing is required, ex., unlock the potential of automated tools from Industry 3.0 and combine them with machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI), taking those technologies into Industry 4.0.
