Cutting Tool Advancements for the Machining of Heat-Resistant Super Alloy Materials
Ken Schilling, Regional Sales Manager, Greenleaf Corporation
Heat-resistant materials continue to evolve and are in greater demand than ever before. The correct selection and application of the latest cutting tool technology available to machine these materials is critical for productive manufacturing. This seminar will focus on the application of advanced ceramic and carbide cutting tools on difficult-to-machine metals such as Inconel, Waspaloy, Rene and other select materials. Topics discussed will be guidelines for identifying the best opportunities for applying ceramic tooling, selecting tool geometries, optimizing operating parameters, application techniques as well as identifying work piece and machine tool limitations. In addition, a brief overview of the advantages of specially engineered tooling will be given.
